• Pre-eminent restructuring and transformation expert Nils Kuhlwein appointed to lead and scale Interpath's restructuring offering throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland
• Interpath also expands footprint into Berlin with transfer of Dr. Ralph Kudla to help drive expansion of the firm’s Restructuring business across the German capital
Interpath, the independent financial advisory business, is pleased to announce the launch of its Restructuring business in DACH with the appointment of one of Germany’s foremost turnaround and transformation professionals to lead the build-out of its new restructuring offering across the region.
Nils Kuhlwein joins Interpath as a Managing Director from A.T. Kearney, where he was a Partner responsible for the firm’s Transformation Services division. Prior to Kearney, he was a Partner at McKinsey in the Restructuring & Transformation Services division, and has also held management roles at firms including Roland Berger and KPMG. Nils has extensive cross-industry and cross-functional expertise spanning restructuring, turnarounds and complex international transformation projects. He is also a founding member and board member of the restructuring association, TMA Deutschland e.V.
Interpath’s award-winning international Restructuring team helps clients across all four corners of the globe to navigate financial stress and distress, drive strategic turnaround and transformation programmes, undertake asset recovery and complex investigations, as well as leading on formal insolvency procedures. As such, the team has worked on some of the most high-profile and complex cases in the market. The firm is proud to combine technical excellence with empathy and pragmatism, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with its clients with a commitment to protecting, restoring, and enhancing value.
Nils will be supported in the build-out and growth of Interpath’s Restructuring offering across DACH by Dr Ralph Kudla, who transfers to Berlin from Interpath’s office in Düsseldorf. Ralph is a Managing Director, having joined the firm in January 2025 as part of Interpath’s acquisition of Kerkhoff, the specialist procurement and supply chain consultancy.
The launch of Interpath’s offering in the German capital sees its footprint across DACH grow to five locations, namely Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Vienna. The firm is led across the region by highly experienced deals advisor, Neil Siri and, as part of its ambitious international growth strategy, has plans to hire up to 25 additional managing directors and directors in the DACH region, with the aim of becoming one of the world’s leading financial advisory firms by 2030.
Neil Siri, Head of Interpath in the DACH region, said: "Interpath has a long and proud heritage in the field of restructuring, stretching back more than 50 years. This, coupled with the fact that Germany is rightly considered one of the world’s leading centres for restructuring, means that it was always a priority to build a market-leading team here. I’m therefore delighted to welcome Nils to the business whose breadth of experience gained working on some of the most complex and high-profile restructurings in Europe means we have a fantastic platform upon which to drive our offering forward.”
Nils Kuhlwein, Head of Restructuring for Interpath in DACH, added: “Restructuring is part of Interpath's DNA so I'm especially excited to be part of this team, to help build and grow our business across DACH, and to put my 30 years of experience in this area to good use in line with our goal of creating holistic value for our clients.
“Although Interpath is still a relatively young brand here in Germany, the company already has an unparalleled track record across Europe thanks to its many experienced professionals who are actively working on some of the largest mandates in the market. I’m looking forward to working with them as we endeavour to support our clients with the skills and tools they need to stabilise and improve operations, and to restore confidence in times of uncertainty and disruption.”
Neil Siri concluded: “The launch of our Restructuring capability in DACH also means that our clients across the region now have access to the full range of Interpath’s service offering. Our fast-growing team is actively advising clients on topics ranging from value preservation in challenging business situations, to the use of capital for M&A and new business opportunities, as well as supply chain and procurement optimisation strategies. Our aim is to continue to grow and evolve our business such that we are delivering exceptional deals, value creation and restructuring solutions that set the highest of standards in our chosen markets."
