Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs from Interpath were appointed joint administrators to Orion Retail Limited, Tarak International Limited and Zandra Systems Limited, collectively trading as Quiz Clothing (“Quiz”), on 5 February 2026.
Founded in Scotland in 1993, Quiz is a high street fashion retailer operating from 40 stores across the UK and seven concessions across the Republic of Ireland, as well as online (www.quizclothing.co.uk). It employs circa 565 members of staff.
Over the past 12 months, the business has experienced challenging trading conditions. While sales were reported to be stronger than anticipated through to the end of September 2025, they fell below expectations during the crucial Christmas trading period, both online and in-store. In addition, Quiz had to contend with strong economic headwinds including changing consumer habits, cost pressures from business rates and the recent increases to employment costs.
In response to these challenges, the directors worked tirelessly to explore options to safeguard the future of Quiz, including efforts to source funding. However, with no solvent solutions available, they took the difficult decision to place these companies into insolvency.
Following their appointment, the joint administrators will continue to trade all 40 stores and seven concessions as a going concern while they assess options for the business. The Company’s online store, however, will close. More information for customers can be found below.
The majority of the Company’s employees will be retained to assist the administrators in trading the business; however, it is with regret that the administrators can confirm 109 redundancies across Quiz’s head office in Glasgow and distribution centre in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: “With Quiz the latest retailer to fall into administration, there’s no doubt it’s been a tough start to 2026 for the UK high street.
“It’s our intention to continue to trade all stores and the concessions in Ireland as a going concern for as long as we can while we assess options for the business. We are tremendously grateful for the support of Quiz’s employees and directors who will work alongside us as we trade the business over the coming weeks.”
Geoff Jacobs, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, added: “Any parties with an interest in acquiring the stock, store operations and infrastructure of Quiz should contact us as a matter of urgency. We are ensuring that those employees impacted by redundancy are provided with all available support at this difficult time.”
For the avoidance of doubt, Quiz concessions which trade from New Look and Matalan stores in the UK, are not part of the administration processes.
Information for Customers
Quiz Stores
• A stock clearance sale will commence immediately across all stores. Customers may wish to make purchases whilst stocks are available.
• All goods purchased on or after 5 February 2026 will be “sold as seen” and returns can only be accepted on the grounds that the goods are faulty.
• Any customers seeking to return items purchased prior to 5 February 2026 are advised to go to their nearest store where a replacement or substitute item(s) equal to or less than the value of the original purchase can be provided.
• Customers are advised that no cash or card refunds will be provided.
• In addition, and with regret, gift cards and credit notes are unable to be honoured.
Quiz Clothing Website
• Quiz’s online store will close immediately upon the appointment of the administrators. Customers will no longer be able to place orders via the website.
• Customers who have made a purchase via the website prior to 5 February 2026 and who now wish to return the item(s) will not be able to return goods in the usual manner. Customers are consequently advised to go to their nearest Quiz store where a replacement or substitute item(s) equal to or less than the value of the original purchase can be provided.
• Customers who have already returned items purchased via the website but who have yet to receive a refund will, regrettably, not receive a refund from Quiz. Customers should contact the provider of the credit or debit card which was used for payment and seek assistance
• Online orders that have not yet been despatched will, regrettably, not be fulfilled. Note: customers should not have been charged for these items as payment is taken upon despatch.
