The joint administrators of Headlam Group plc are pleased to confirm the sales of two of the Group’s wholly-owned subsidiaries, Domus Tiles Limited and Melrose Interiors Limited, through pre-pack transactions.
The sales secure the ongoing trading of both businesses and provide continuity for their customers, suppliers and employees.
Domus Tiles Limited
Domus is a leading distributor of premium tile and flooring products, supplying interior designers, architects and corporate customers. The company operates six showrooms, in Battersea, Clerkenwell, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and West Molesey. Notable past projects include Battersea Power Station, Heathrow Terminals 2 and 5, the US Embassy in London and Wembley Stadium.
Chris Pole and Will Wright of Interpath were appointed joint administrators of Domus Tiles Limited on 27 October 2026. Immediately following their appointment, they sold the business and assets to Domus Group London Limited, a company owned and led by Domus’ existing management team.
As part of the transaction, all 112 Domus employees will transfer to the purchaser.
Melrose Interiors Limited
Based in Bradford, Melrose Interiors is a specialist manufacturer, importer and distributor of rugs and associated flooring products, trading under the Melrose, My Melrose and Relay brands.
Chris Pole and Will Wright were appointed joint administrators of Melrose Interiors Limited on 26 October 2026. Immediately following their appointment, they sold certain business and assets to the Jain family group of UK distribution companies.
The Jain family has a long track record of acquiring and rebuilding UK businesses, having completed 12 rescues since 2006, including Eliza Tinsley and Avocet Hardware. The new owners plan to invest in stock and technology to strengthen Melrose's competitiveness and broaden the value-added services it offers customers and suppliers.
As part of the transaction, 35 employees will transfer to the purchaser.
Unfortunately, the Spectrum business unit was excluded from the transaction. As a result, and with regret, the 19 employees engaged in that part of the business were made redundant following the Joint Administrators’ appointment.
Comments
Chris Pole, joint administrator to Domus Tiles Limited and Melrose Interiors Limited, said: “We are pleased to have concluded these transactions, which safeguard the future of Domus and Melrose, both successful and highly respected parts of the wider Headlam Group.
“The transactions ensure continuity of service for customers, protect ongoing relationships with suppliers and, importantly, secure the jobs of 147 employees across the two companies. We would like to thank all of the staff for their professionalism and commitment during what has been a very challenging period, and we wish both businesses every success under their new ownership.”
Lyric Jain, on behalf of the Jain family, said: "Melrose has a strong reputation, loyal customers and an experienced team in Bradford. As with Eliza Tinsley and Avocet, our focus is on giving the business the backing to grow: deeper stock availability, better technology across ordering and fulfilment, and more value-added services for retailers and trade partners. We look forward to working with Melrose's customers and suppliers, and to building the business with the team for the long term."
