Interpath is pleased to announce the appointment of highly experienced restructuring and turnaround advisor Simon Stibbons as a Managing Director within its Restructuring practice in London.
Simon joins Interpath to lead the firm’s relationship with Regulators and HM Government with whom he has worked previously across multiple departments, and will help drive the firm’s work across the public sector and more broadly with companies across the infrastructure industry.
A licenced insolvency practitioner, Simon has over 28 years’ experience of leading large, complex
restructurings in both the private and public sector. He joins Interpath from Kroll, where he led the firm’s
Government and Regulatory Restructuring offering, supporting public sector bodies and private sector suppliers of key public services through financial distress and underperformance. He has also previously held roles in the restructuring teams of Big 4 firms including KPMG and EY.
In recent years, Simon’s work has focused on HM Government-based interventions and contingency planning mandates, including acting as lead financial advisor for the Department for Transport in the renationalisation of LNER and Northern Rail franchises. In addition, he has recently worked directly with UKGI and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero providing direct ministerial advice in respect of a distressed Oil & Gas facilities provider; has performed a financial review of a large Adult Social care provider facing significant regulatory and financial scrutiny; and has undertaken a financial review and assessment of the turnaround plan for a Higher Education institution.
Simon also continues to provide contingency planning and restructuring advice and takes insolvency appointments over corporates in the private sector.
Will Wright, UK CEO of Interpath, said: “Securing someone of Simon’s calibre is a real coup for Interpath. His depth of experience and reputation across complex, multi stakeholder situations will add further weight to our existing work in sectors such as infrastructure, energy and higher education. As demand for specialist restructuring expertise continues to grow, Simon’s arrival further strengthens our ability to support clients navigating some of the most challenging environments in the market.”
Simon Stibbons added: “I’m delighted to be joining Interpath on its continued growth journey and to have the opportunity to reunite with former colleagues at what is such a pivotal moment for the restructuring landscape. The number of opportunities emerging from UK Government, or involving close engagement with it, continues to increase, creating a dynamic environment where high quality advice is essential. I’m looking forward to utilising my experience across some of the most complex issue in the Public Sector and contributing to the firm’s momentum and helping clients address the complex issues ahead.”
