BVI has a stable legal framework based on English common law and a respected and robust regulatory environment overseen by the BVI Financial Services Commission, making it an attractive jurisdiction for foreign-listed and/or asset holding companies to domicile.

Our BVI team is experienced in advising clients across these sectors and has particular experience in navigating the complexities of cross-border insolvency and restructuring, enforcement actions, and asset tracing.  Our team also acts as voluntary liquidators of, or advisors to, solvent companies to manage cost-effective wind down options. Interpath BVI’s innovative and proactive approach has created positive results for companies and their stakeholders. This has led the way in many industry firsts over the last decade including the appointment as:

• The first “light touch” provisional liquidators in the BVI as part of a significant oil and gas restructuring
• Administering the first BVI liquidator appointments to ever be recognised in United Arabic Emirates, the Dubai International Financial Centre, and Singapore
• Acting as Trustee in Bankruptcy in the first cases in the territory; and
• Acting as Receiver of Hector DAO; a groundbreaking case that set a new precedent in the US Bankruptcy Courts and is notable for the decentralized finance industry. Not only was this the first time a Court has made an appointment over a DAO, but Hector DAO became the first DAO recognised as a debtor under US bankruptcy law.

We have invested to position ourselves as an expert in the crypto and blockchain technology sector, with our team having extensive expertise and experience advising clients relating to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology and assisting in the recovery of digital assets, often in circumstances where there has been fraud or hacking activity.
